Our History

Western Elites Association (WEA) is an all- inclusive, diverse Association transformative and development oriented Association made up of made professionals, youths,investors ,celebrities ,policy makers and people from Bungoma,Trans Nzoia,Vihiga,Kakamega and Busia Counties of Kenya partnering with relevant stakeholders to achieve its goals.

The idea of an Association to promote socio-economic empowerment empowerment ,revitalization,transformation,inclusion,unity,dialogue,integration and peace in Bungoma,Trans Nzoia,Vihiga,Kakamega and Busia Conties goes back to 1st October 2017 when the founder and current General Chairperson of Western Elites Assocition (WEA) Mr.Dennis Liyala Omulisya came up with a plan and vision to bring people in the counties together and work to change their socio-economic state ,empower themselves ,transform and revitalize the economic status of the counties which was on a meltdown.

By 2nd October 2017, the realization journey of this journey commenced, Mr.Omulisya founded the Mulembe Comrades Association (MCA) and formed a Whatsapp Group comprising of Tertiary Institutional Students from the Five Western Kenya counties .He convened and chaired a meeting on 21st October 2017 at the ADD Building,University of Naorobi Main Campus. The meeting was meant to inform and explain to the students about the vision and plan and come up with officials to help drive the Association. Thirty students from different tertiary institutions in Kenya including universities, colleges and TVETs attended this meeting.MCA held its Annual General Meeting at Kakamega Rehabilitation Center,Kakamega County on 27th December 2017 .549 Tertiary Institutional Students and two guests from the professional field attended this meeting. From 1st January 2018, MCA started increase its membership and popularizing itself. Its officials held a press conference covering development matters in the country,it was covered and aired by West Tv and West FM .They held informative sessions about the in meetings radio stations like Radio Ingo and Mulembe FM.Information about the Association was shared to different leaders from the Five Western Counties like Hon.Eugene Wamalwa,Hon.Cyrus Jirongo and Hon.Christopher Aseka . On 1st February 2018, Mr.Omulisya renamed MCA to Mulembe Comrades and Professionals Association (MCPA) which allowed professionals from the Five Western Counties to be part of the Association.Professionals like Prof.Ambassador David Kikaya joined the Association.

On 4th March 2018,Mr.Omulisya renamed MCPA to Western Elites Association (WEA) and many changes were done allowing other communities from the counties like Tesos,Sabaots and Hindus to be part of the Association.People from other counties but residing ,married or adopted in the Five Western Counties were allowed to be part of the Association.People from the Five Western Counties but residing or working in diaspora like the United Kingdom,Germany and USA were allowed to be part of the Association.This led to people like Erick Omune Ashikoye in Saudi Arabia,Aggrey Kikaya in the United Kingdom and Ernest Mbalanya in the USA to be join of the Association.

WEA was registered on 9th September 2018 under the Kenya societies act with Dennis Liyala Omulisya as the General Chairperson,Delina Nafula King’asia as the Vice General Chairperson ,Susan Nasambu Wamalwa as the Treasurer ,Synaidar Amoi Kamede as the Secretary and Kennedy Akidiva Sagala as the Organizer .WEA was launced at Bukhungu Stadium kakamega County on 28th December 2018.

The Association has made tremendous including formulation of the WEA Socio-Economic Blueprint to guide the socio-economic development of the Five Western Counties ,networking of professors ,technocrats like professors and engineers from the Five Counties and is currently implementing its First Five Year Medium- Term Plan 2019-2023 which involves projects and projects like commercial and value chain strengthening of the Five Western Counties Value Chain for Local Economic Sustainable Development and establishment of an itechBusiness hub at Masinde Muliro University of Science Technology to train startups ,provide office space,networking ,promoting innovation and helping startups access capital from different stakelolders like banks for commencement of the businesses.

Our Emblem

The WEA logo has become its symbol as it carries out its work on the national and world stage.The logo is an inspirational symbol,for it speaks to the hopes and dreams of people in Trans Nzoia,Bungoma,Busia,Vihiga and Kakamega Counties of Kenya ,for socio-economic empowerment,transformation,revitalization,inclusion,integration,unity,peace and dialogue.

Design

The original WEA logo was created by Murdock Emisembe in 2018 under the guidance of Dennis Liyala Omulisya The WEA logo is a symbol with people shaking hands which symbolizes unity,,dialogue ,inclusion and integration.It has a group of pepole which shows that the Association is for the people and by the people in the Five Western Kenya Counties .The green colour and green colored olive tree branches symbolizes agricultural development and environmental conservation.The white colour symbolizes peace .The blue colour symbolizes socio-economic empowerment,transformation and revitalization.

Unity of purpose is WEA’s slogan.

Approval

The WEA logo was approved by WEA members in 2018.

Its Use

The WEA logo is used on Western Elites Association stamps. The logo has also been incorporated into logos of several WEA Family members which is made up of WEA itself and many affiliated specialized agencies,funds and programmes ,all with their own membership,leadership and funds.
